HOmecoming gameAlthough Arroyo took the win, 55-19, at the homecoming game, Mountain View put up a fight.
Michael Moreno(‘14) looked forward to, “ making a battle putting up a tough fight for the other team.” Jose Moreno(‘14) said, “High and tight. Be relentless.” Both players hoped to make their last homecoming game a viking victory by putting forth their best effort and the teams. The players said they were very confident but also nervous to play against a really good school. “We’ve had really close games and have made MVHS a respectable football team. We still have a shot at being 5-5 [5 wins, 5 losses] and end the season on a good note,” said Coach Ambruso. Ambruso has a lot of respect for his players. He has seen his players’ character grow. He said he has never seen a tighter “One Blood Football Team.” “I love these guys,” said Coach Ambruso.“ Adam Olivarez(‘14) said, ”New team. New players. New skills.” These different abilities have brought the team together. “We had a great practice week. We felt that we had a good game plan. The first half of the game was very competitive but we were losing by nine points. During the second half, Arroyo came out, scored, and then stopped us on offense. We didn’t do a good job at bouncing back. In the second half we were undisciplined, we didn’t make our reads. We lacked fight. All we can do now is learn from it, not make the same mistakes twice, and take out our frustration on El Monte High School. Besides that, it has been a very competitive year,“ said Ambruso. Alfred Martinez(‘14) said that some advice that his coach gives them is to stay disciplined. Laila Rodriguez |
hallowballOn October 26th Mountain View High School students attended the Hallowball themed Homecoming Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. at the gymnasium. Vikings attended a dance with no limit on pictures at the photo booth, a group of friends, and a mix of both Spanish and English music.
Homecoming Queen and King were announced around 10 p.m. The winners were Kimberly Pham (‘14), Homecoming Queen, and Alejandro “Puppy” Ramos (‘14), Homecoming King. Student body president, Sergio Mora Jr (‘14), said, “Because a lot of the events like Monster Mash and the Haunted House were taking place around Homecoming week, the ASB commision agreed to make the Homecoming theme Ominous October. This formed ideas to make the entire month of October Halloween themed. This is my last opportunity to attend a Homecoming dance, so I figured, why not attend?” In order to go to the dance students had to clear their detention hours or sign a contract with the school, where students would be agreeing to complete a certain amount of detention hours by October 23rd. As students entered the dance, counselors checked their completed hours. Elvis Alfaro Anissia Villa |
